Hi, I am Sharon Dash. I live with my husband Paul, our son, who was born in September 2004 and a West Highland Terrier called Ollie. We have lived in this quite cul-de-sac in Chislehurst since September 2002. We are both non-smokers. I am also a qualified nanny and have worked as a nanny for 12 years; during this time I looked after 18 children, from newborn until 8 years of age. Most of the families that I have worked for have had between three and four children and I am still in contact with them.I prepare homemade meals, with the occasional special treats. All the toys are clean and up-to-date, I keep a selection for a wide range of age groups. In Chislehurst we have two parks and a good library all of which are within easy walking distance. The library has music classes once a week.
Children in my care will be given a day diary describing what they have eaten, if they sleep and if they were feeling a bit unwell. They will take this home with them so that you can check the day’s events and if you wish, write notes back to me.
The law now states that childminders are not allowed to smack children, even if I have written agreement however, I do not agree with smacking children. My policy is to give time out. (Number of minutes to the age of the child).
My household insurance covers me for having children in my home. I also have NCMA insurance and my car insurance also allows me to transport children for business purposes. Ofsted now have a grading system for childminders, the three categories are: unsatisfactory, satisfactory or good. I have been graded as good.
